Welcome to Sharpness Primary School                                                         "Pupils receive high levels of individual attention and consequently their personal development and well-being, as well as their care, guidance and support, are outstanding" - Ofsted, 2008

The school’s governors are people who wish to make a positive contribution to children's education and to raise standards of achievement. Governors represent people from many walks of life: school staff, parents and the local community. This means that school decisions are made by people with a wide range of experience and views.

We take an active role in reviewing the performance of the school and are accountable for this.

Together with the Head Teacher we set the future direction of the school and decide how the school's budget should be spent to provide best value.

The Governing Body makes decisions collectively on matters such as school policies and the school's development plan.

Governors are aligned with the school’s core subjects, such as literacy, numeracy, creative arts, and IT .We work with the teaching staff Subject Leaders in these areas to ensure the pupils receive an education that is of high quality.

The Governing Body encourages and supports the Head Teacher and her staff but we do not intervene in the day-to-day running of the school; our duty is not to manage but to give direction and focus.
