Working with Parents & the Community

How are we working with parents and the community?

Ofsted found that parents viewed the school as being at the heart of the community and noted that "the school has outstanding links to the community" and "family learning is promoted very effectively".

Children regularly participate in events that include the wider community such as church services/events and entertaining the elderly residents of the local sheltered accommodation.  We are proud of the fact that this promotes greater tolerance and respect between the generations.

Parents are encouraged to become actively involved in their children's education.  We recognise that good communication is central to this and produce a fortnightly newsletter, which is also available online.  Our regular information evenings are well attended and cover subjects such as SATs, drugs education, reading workshops, Jolly Phonics etc.  Class assemblies provide an ideal opportunity for children to share their learning experiences with their families.

Our School Association is thriving and successful, organising many fundraising and social activities throughout the year.  The views of parents are well represented by the five Parent Governors elected to our Governing Body.
